Struggle for Peace Declared in S. Korea
Pyongyang, March 2 (KCNA) -- Members of civic and public organizations in south Korea on Feb. 19 had a ceremony for declaring the movement for conclusion of peace treaty in 2011.

The organizations included the People for Achieving Peace and Reunification, the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification and the Confederation of Trade Unions.

Speakers at the ceremony said that the recent acute situation of the Korean Peninsula showed that it was a very urgent task to conclude a peace treaty at an early date.

Criticizing the U.S. for having instigated the present "government" keen on confrontation with fellow countrymen to stage the madcap war exercises against the DPRK, they said that they would not remain an onlooker to such maneuvers.

A resolution, read out at the ceremony, called upon the progressive forces to wage a massive struggle in unity for forcing the U.S. to conclude a treaty for peace of the Korean Peninsula.

It stressed that they would build up the international opinion for conclusion of a peace treaty and, at the same time, conduct a vigorous struggle for pullout of the U.S. forces from south Korea and break of the humiliating south Korea-U.S. alliance.
