Delicate Relations Surrounding "Nordic Type NATO"
Pyongyang, March 1 (KCNA) -- The possibility for the Nordic countries to join NATO has created delicate relations between Russia and the U.S.

An example of this was that the Russian newspaper Pravda (Internet) recently expressed caution against the attempt of the U.S. and the West to put increased pressure upon Russia by establishing "Nordic Type NATO" by plugging Nordic countries into NATO.

According to the paper, the main purpose of the summit of the Nordic and Baltic countries held in London in January was not to boost cooperation in the socio-economic field but to create a military and political organization unofficially named "Nordic Type NATO".

The U.S. is more active than any others in this move. According to what was disclosed by Wikileaks, the U.S. ambassador to Norway in a report held that the establishment of such organization would be favorable for "watching polar bears and the Russians".

The true intention of the U.S. to plug Nordic countries into NATO is to reduce the burden of NATO forces in Afghanistan and create a new cause of tension between the Nordic countries and Russia and thus escalate contradiction.

Confrontation still exists between the U.S. and Russia over such issues as the missile defence system, the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), etc.

A meeting for discussing the basic document for the establishment of "Nordic Type NATO" is to be held in a Nordic country in April, according to European press reports.

The further the moves for its establishment get intensified in the future, the more acute the contradiction between Russia and the U.S. will grow.
