Jang Sung Op's Paintings
Pyongyang, February 28 (KCNA) -- Jang Sung Op (1843-1897) was a famous Korean painter representing the 19th century.

After losing his parents in his childhood, he practiced the art of drawing, living a servant's life.

After years of painting, he invented a peculiar drawing style different from the existing one. It is characterized by a vivid depiction reflecting national characteristics.

Many of his works are animal, still life and flower pictures.

"Reed and Crab", "Kingfisher by Pondside", "Hawk", "Wild Geese" and "Soldiers and Horses" are typical of his realistic works.

The works show his excellent single stroke technique and tour de force.
