Japan Urged to Redress Past--Rodong Sinmun
Pyongyang, February 24 (KCNA) -- Japan's redemption of its past is prerequisite for the normal improvement of the DPRK-Japan relations as wished by the two peoples, said Rodong Sinmun Thursday in a by-lined article.

The liquidation of the past is the core and starting point for improving the bilateral relations. The abnormal relations between the two countries can never be put on a normal track if Japan persistently evades the redemption of its past, the article said.

It cited facts to prove that the crimes committed by Japan in Korea during the first half of the last century were hideous crimes in history.

No statute of limitations is applicable to those hideous crimes against humanity committed by the Japanese imperialists, said the article, adding:

The international voices blaming Japan for evading the redemption of the past is increasing as the days go by.

Strong voices calling for denouncing Japan's past crimes and forcing it to make apology and reparation are heard at international conferences including the UN General Assembly and regional conferences.

Moves denouncing the authorities for evading the redemption of the past are becoming brisk in Japan, too.

Even its some politicians are calling for redressing the past.

Those countries which committed the crimes against humanity in the past have repented of their past crimes and are working hard to liquidate them on the international arena.

If Japan truly stands for improved relations with the DPRK and wants to live as a full-fledged member of the international community, trusted by the world people, it should promptly redress its past. Herein lies its future.
