Reckless Remark Aimed to Aggravate Tension
Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- The commander of the U.S. Seventh Fleet said on Feb. 16 that the U.S. would continue to dispatch an aircraft carrier to the West Sea of Korea for joint military exercises with south Korea.

His remark is apparently aimed to aggravate the tension on the Korean peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia.

Admittedly, the U.S. architected the warship "Cheonan" and Yonphyong Island incidents on the Korean peninsula last year and took them as an excuse to stage largest-ever joint naval exercises on the East and West Seas of Korea with nuclear carrier George Washington taking part in them.

The exercises were viewed as military threat to the DPRK and challenge to the public desire for peace and stability on the peninsula.

But the commander described the dispatch of the aircraft carrier as a contribution to the stability on the Korean peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia.

His remark came when the U.S. and south Korea were going to start the Key Resolve and Foal Eagle joint military maneuvers, rendering the already acute situation more strained.
