Memorial Service for Han Tok Su Held in Tokyo
Pyongyang, February 23 (KCNA) -- A memorial service was held in Tokyo on Feb. 21 in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of death of Han Tok Su, former chairman of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon).

Present there were Ho Jong Man, chief vice-chairman of the Central Standing Committee of Chongryon, and other officials and compatriots and bereaved families of Han Tok Su.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Han.

Ho Jong Man in his memorial address noted that Han Tok Su, holding the important post of chairman of Chongryon until the last moments of his life since the very day of its formation, firmly built Chongryon into an overseas compatriots' organization of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and set an example as a pioneer in the overseas compatriots' movement. This is the great feat performed by Han before the country and the nation, he added.

The speaker went on:

Han Tok Su could glorify his life as a pioneer, an able organizer of the Koreans movement in Japan and representative of Chongryon and Koreans in Japan entirely thanks to the particularly profound political trust and boundless loving care shown by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

The noble ideological world and patriotic exploits of Han will always be remembered by posterity along with the history of warm love shown by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for the Chongryon officials and compatriots.
