China Ranks Fourth in IP Application
Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced in Geneva on February 9 that China's international patent applications increased sharply last year, making the country the world's fourth IP applicant.

Statistics released by WIPO showed the IP applications made by China under the "Patent Cooperation Treaty" (PCT) increased from 7 900 in 2009 to 12 339 in 2010, a 56.2 percent jump.

Two Chinese businesses rank second and fourth in IP application in the world.

WIPO noted IP applications are on steady increase in northeast Asian nations.
