Composers of the U.K., the U.S., France, Germany and Italy recently held a meeting to select the most beautiful melody in the world and made this decision by the overwhelming approval rate of 82 percent.

Conveying this story, the Chinese "Heilongjiang Sinmun" (Internet) said on Feb. 18 that this cannot but be an astonishing result, taking into consideration the fact that there was no Korean among the members of the jury.

"Arirang", a symbolic and typical folk song of the Korean nation, is not only a song which has been loved and widely sung by it since olden times but a song which was sung in chorus like the national anthem when players of the north and the south entered the stadium as a unified team, confirming it is a homogeneous nation at present when the Korean Peninsula remains divided into two, it stressed.
