Meeting of Korean Children's Union Held
Pyongyang, February 16 (KCNA) -- The meeting of the Joint National Organization of the Korean Children's Union was held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

Attending the meeting were provincial representatives of the Korean Children's Union and members of the Union in Pyongyang.

Present there on invitation were Choe Thae Bok, Yang Hyong Sop, Choe Ryong Hae, Mun Kyong Dok and other officials concerned and officials of the Party and the youth league, war veterans and men of merits in Pyongyang.

Ri Yong Chol, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League, said in his report that Kim Jong Il was born as the son of guerillas embodying the spirit of Mt. Paektu. Thanks to this historic February day the Korean people could advance along the road of victory and glory blessed with the illustrious leaders generation after generation, he added.

He called on all the members of the Korean Children's Union to study hard learning from the glorious childhood of the leader and join the activities of the Union with sincerity and thus grow to be genuine sons and daughters of Songun Korea.

The report was followed by the admission ceremony of the Children's Union.

Led by Choe Ryong Hae the pupils made admission vows before the flag of the Korean Children's Union.

Officials, war veterans and men of merits tied the red ties around their necks and hung Union badges on their chests.

Republic Hero Ri Ki Hwan who is a war veteran, Pak Ji Min, professor and doctor of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Labor Hero and People's Sportswoman Kim Song Hui made congratulatory speeches.
