Korean Nation Proud of Its Long-standing Cultural Tradition
Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) -- The Korean nation is proud of its ancient history and long-standing cultural tradition.

The Korean nation's history spans 5,000 years during which its members have lived with one and the same language in the same territory as a homogenous nation.

Taedonggang Culture, one of the five cultures of the world, was created by Korean ancestors.

A lot of historical relics and remains were discovered in the basin of the River Taedong. Among them are those of primitive culture dating back to the Old Stone Age when human beings started their struggle to conquer nature and ancient culture which had developed for more than 5,000 years.

The discovery of the mausoleum of King Tangun led to ascertaining the historical fact that Korea is a country advanced in human civilization with a long history of 5,000 years in the East and that the Korean nation is a homogeneous one with King Tangun as its founding father.

It was Koreans who produced metal type, udometer and built turtle-shaped armored ships, etc. and used them for the first time in the world.

The South Gate in Kaesong and Yonboksa Bell boast their elegant and majestic style and outstanding architecture and graceful and exquisite metal workmanship.

Hunminjongum (the Korean script), Koryo celadon and Korean paintings prove the advantages of the national culture.

All the Koreans irrespective of age or sex and social status turned out as one to beat back foreign aggressors. This is one of the excellent aspects of the national character formed throughout the history.

The Korean people came to have the best national character in the world as they hold in high esteem President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il as the sun of the nation and the outstanding leader of the nation.
