Distance Lectures Brisk
Pyongyang, February 15 (KCNA) -- Working people and school youth and children in the DPRK are becoming increasingly enthusiastic to get distance lectures to acquire new scientific and technological know-how.

The number of the applicants for these lectures given from the Grand People's Study House in Pyongyang is on the steady increase.

The study house gives distance lectures under the real-time conversation system whereby varieties of image, sound and information are provided both ways. It also provides applicants with an opportunity to get those lectures at convenient time.

The above-said service started in September last year.

With the number of people getting scientific and technological lectures and new technological information on the steady increase, working people and school youth and children across the country are showing ever-increasing zeal to acquire latest scientific and technological knowledge through distance lectures.

Lecturers at the study house are doing their best to raise the level of those lectures to meet the need of learners.

These lectures put main emphasis on giving basic knowledge about the computer application in the past. But from this year lectures will be given on such core basic technology and ultra-modern science and technology as IT, Nano technology and bioengineering as well as on urgent scientific and technological issues arising in the development of the national economy.

The study house will invite experts in various fields to give lectures.

Kim Mi Hyang, a physician of the North Hwanghae Provincial People's Hospital, said that she never misses distance lectures given by the study house.

She said: "It is very good to receive lectures given from far-off Pyongyang, watching the lecturer on display. I feel as if I were dreaming as I can ask the lecturer any question as to whatever I can't understand. "
