Sports Contest of Officials for Paektusan Prize Closes
Pyongyang, February 9 (KCNA) -- The 16th sports contest of officials of national institutions for Paektusan Prize closed on Wednesday.

It was opened on Jan. 24 to celebrate February 16, the birthday of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The officials competed in eleven events, divided into 4 groups.

Finishing first in team standing were the State Planning Commission, the Mansudae Art Studio, the Overseas Construction Guidance Bureau and the Taesongsan Guidance Bureau.

In men's basketball games the first place was won by the Ministry of Railways, the Minju Joson, the Taesong Guidance Bureau and the Guidance Bureau of Mining and Machine-Building Industry.

In women's basketball, the Ministry of Mining Industry, the Mansudae Art Studio and the Myohyang Guidance Bureau placed first.

In men's volleyball, the first place was taken by the Education Commission, the Kumsong Youth Publishing House, the Ponghwa Guidance Bureau and the Foreign Trade Bank of the DPRK. In women's volleyball the Central Bank, the Mansudae Art Studio, the Overseas Construction Guidance Bureau and the Bureau of Diplomatic Corps Affairs came first.

A closing ceremony was held at the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium.

Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kang Nung Su, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned, officials and players of ministries and national institutions and working people in Pyongyang.
