Early Opening of North-South Dialogue Called for
Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- The Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee sent a notice to the south Korean Ministry of Unification calling for an early opening of north-south dialogue. In this connection Jang Sang Hup, 51, department director of the Ministry of Fishery, said: The proposals of the DPRK calling on the governments, political parties and organizations of the north and the south to have candid discussions on the pending issue at negotiating tables are the most reasonable and specific ones, I think.

Now everything depends on how the south Korean authorities respond to these proposals, he added.

Jin Ran Hui, 45, lecturer at the Ssuksom Revolutionary Site Management Office, noted: "National reunification is the unanimous desire of all the Koreans and the task of the times whose fulfillment brooks no further delay."

Ssuk Islet is the historic place where patriotic personages in the north and the south of Korea met irrespective of ideology and political view more than six decades ago and discussed the destinies of the country and the nation and reached a consensus of views, she noted.

"Looking back on those memorable days, I am of the view that the south Korean authorities should respond to the DPRK's proposal for dialogue as early as possible as desired by the nation," she added.
