Japanese Imperialists' Colonial Rule over Korea Can Never Be Written Off
Pyongyang, January 31 (KCNA) -- February 1 marks the lapse of 105 years since the Japanese imperialists established a colonial resident-general rule over Korea.

After illegally occupying Korea, the Japanese imperialists set up the Residency-General in Seoul in 1906 pursuant to "Ulsa (1905) Five-point Treaty" faked up by them in a bid to enforce their colonial rule over Korea in all fields.

The resident-general was a supreme ruler who exercised all powers in Korea, including legislative, judicial and administrative powers and prerogative over the army.

The Japanese imperialists massively brought troops, MPs and police to Korea for the purpose of intensifying the rule, turning it into a huge prison. They, at the same time, systematically weakened the royal authority of the feudal government of the Ri Dynasty.

They suppressed and killed a great many Korean patriots whom they deemed obstructive to their colonial rule.

At least 16,000 were murdered by the Japanese imperialists between August 1907 and June 1911, according to data available.

They cooked up the "law on mining" and "Korea-Japan fishery agreement" and others under the pretext of "promoting welfare" and plundered Korea of huge resources.

They also completely controlled the financial field of Korea, hindering the development of its national capital.

The crimes they committed in Korea through their colonial resident- general rule can neither be written off nor covered up no matter how much water may flow under the bridge.
