Halt to Suppression of Pro-reunification Forces in S. Korea Demanded
Pyongyang, January 30 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities should make a positive contribution to achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula, urged the Association of Koreans in Americas in a statement on Jan. 20.

The statement accused the south Korean authorities of staging large-scale joint military exercises with the U.S. last year, persistently aggravating the situation on the peninsula.

Recently they held negotiations for tightening the military nexus with Japan despite the strong protest of all the fellow countrymen, thus arousing concern about a dangerous arms race in Northeast Asia, it charged.

All facts go to prove that if the military tension is not defused, it is bound to lead to a war which will entail catastrophic consequences, it warned, stressing that dialogue and negotiations with the north is the only way for achieving peace on the Korean Peninsula.
