S. Korea Should Opt for Dialogue with DPRK -- Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The authorities of south Korea should take the stand to settle issue at a negotiating table, clearing away the doubt about their fellow countrymen in the north as soon as possible, said Rodong Sinmun Friday in a by-lined article. It said:

South Korea has made nonsense about the DPRK, doubting its proposal for dialogue. This is not proper approach to the dialogue.

To distrust the dialogue partner for no reason bedevils the north-south relations and will only stoke bitterer mistrust, driving the relations to a catastrophe. Now is the time to cut off this chain of evil cycle.

A key to solution lies in dispelling the useless doubt about the dialogue partner and resuming north-south dialogue at an early date. This dialogue would help remove misunderstanding, promote understanding and pave the way for peace, stability, reconciliation and unity.

Putting up conditionality with doubt would never help settle the issue. If the north and the south discuss issues at the negotiating table with broad mind, they can understand sincerity of the other party and clear away doubts. To approach the dialogue from wrong stand would never help repair the north-south ties. It is certain that the homogeneous Korean nation with 5,000 years of history would dispel misunderstanding that lasted only decades.
