Funeral Service for Pak Jong Sun Held
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- A state funeral service for Pak Jong Sun, alternate member of the Political Bureau and first vice department director of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, took place in Pyongyang on Monday.

Present at a ceremony for the departure of funeral procession were Presidium members, members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and members of the State Funeral Committee and the bereaved family.

Senior party, army and state officials, members of the SFC and the bereaved family observed a moment silence in memory of the late.

The coffin was carried out of the hall.

Deep condolences were expressed by citizens along streets where the hearse passed.

A ceremony for bidding last farewell to the deceased took place at the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery.

Kim Ki Nam, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the WPK Central Committee, made a funeral address there.

Pak Jong Sun enjoyed love and respect of the Party members and other people for his intense loyalty to the Party and the revolution, devoted service for the country and the people and steadfast principle and simple honesty, the speaker noted.

Pak's death is a great loss to the WPK and the Korean people, he said, adding that his feats for the Party and the revolution, the country and the people will remain long.

The remains of the deceased were buried.

Laid before his grave was a wreath from leader Kim Jong Il.

Placed there were wreaths from the WPK Central Committee, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, the Cabinet of the DPRK and other different units.

The participants paid a silent tribute to the memory of the late Pak Jong Sun.
