S. Korean Professors Call for Peaceful Reunification
Pyongyang, January 24 (KCNA) -- University professors of south Korea accused the "government" of its "strategy of unification through absorption of the north" and called for peaceful reunification, according to Thongil News of south Korea.

Prof. Ri Nam Ju at a seminar on Jan. 19 said that "tougher sanctions against the north over denuclearization would naturally increase uneasiness on the Korean Peninsula".

"One should look forward to the peaceful settlement of the Korean Peninsula issue through the boosted north-south relations and the weakening south Korea-U.S. military alliance", he said.

Prof. Yang Mu Jin branded the "government's" policy toward the north as failed policy of confrontation and absorption. The "government" claims it is for co-existence and co-prosperity.

He analyzed that "there is scarce possibility of leading the north to a likely change" among the "government's north policy targets." The "separated access to the north authorities and its inhabitants will result in deepening the animosity to south Korea", he said.

He urged the need for the "government" to drop the "theory of unification through absorption" and draft a plan for peaceful reunification.
