Memorial Service for Rev. Mun Held in S. Korea
Pyongyang, January 21 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for Rev. Mun Ik Hwan took place in Seoul on Jan. 18 on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of his death.

Attending it were the family of the reverend, members of civic and public organizations and personages of different circles, more than 300 in all.

Kim Sang Gun, chief director of the 70 Million Korean People's Meeting for Embracing National Reunification, and other speakers at the service looked back on the days when Mun visited Pyongyang and conducted vigorous activities for reunification.

Peace and reunification he wished for so ardently have not yet come true, they said, charging that the south-north relations have been bedeviled due to the present authorities and the reunification movement is being deterred in south Korea.

They held that all the people should get united to fight against the war-like conservative forces who only seek to maintain their power with dependence on outside forces while turning back on the nation.

The Koreans should achieve the independent reunification of the country by their concerted efforts, they said.

Then there was a concert for honoring the memory of Rev. Mun.
