Kim Jong Il Visits Pyongyang Central Zoo
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il visited the Central Zoo in Pyongyang.

He looked round the monument to President Kim Il Sung's on-site guidance newly built at the entrance of the zoo.

Recalling the history of the zoo, he said that the zoo is a product of the President's warm love for the people. The undying feats of the President who devoted all his life to the people will shine long in the history of the country, he added.

Going round a veterinary hospital, an aquarium and other places of the zoo, leader Kim Jong Il learned in detail about its management and operation.

He expressed great satisfaction with the officials and employees of the zoo who have taken good care of animals and organized visits to the zoo in a meticulous way for the cultural and emotional education of the visitors.

He set forth important tasks that would serve as guidelines in managing and operating the zoo.

He called for increasing the number of animal species and laying a more solid material and technical foundation to spruce up the zoo in a promising way.

To make more working people and school youth and children come to the zoo it is needed to provide sufficient services for them while furnishing the zoo to be convenient for their visits, he said.

He expressed belief that the employees of the zoo would creditably fulfill their mission and duty as servants for the people.

Accompanying him were Mun Kyong Dok, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK and chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, Choe Thae Bok, member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK, and Thae Jong Su, alternate member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the C.C., the WPK.
