Int'l Body Calls for Solidarity with DPRK Joint Statement
Pyongyang, January 19 (KCNA) -- A leading official of an international body called on governments, progressive political parties and social organizations of all countries to express full solidarity with the joint statement of the DPRK government, political parties and organizations.

S. N. Sserwanga, secretary general of the African Regional Committee of Friendship and Solidarity with the Korean People, made this appeal in his statement Jan. 13.

The DPRK joint statement is a timely, reasonable and just proposal, he said.

No other region in the world remains so tense as the Korean Peninsula does, he said, adding: This is attributable to the lasting hostile relations between the DPRK and the U.S. and the persistent confrontation between the north and the south of Korea.

The DPRK made a bold proposal out of the desire to open a turning phase for peace and reunification of the peninsula, he said.
