Co-op Farms Alive with Preparations for This Year's Farming
Pyongyang, January 18 (KCNA) -- The cooperative farms in the DPRK are busy with preparations for this year's farming.

The joint New Year editorial set the agricultural front as a lifeline for improving the standard of people's living. The agricultural workers are pushing ahead with those preparations faster than last year in hearty response to it.

Co-op farms in Sunan and Ryongsong Districts and other areas of Pyongyang singled it out as one of the important ways for attaining their high goals to increase the fertility of paddy and non-paddy fields and are now channeling their efforts into the drive to do so.

The farmers in South Hwanghae Province are focusing their efforts on the production of quality organic fertilizer and its transport to the fields.

The province plays an important role in the nation's agricultural development.

The farmers of North Hamgyong Province are carrying thousands of tons of manure to paddy and non-paddy fields every day despite unfavorable weather conditions by mobilizing all manpower and means of transport available under detailed plans.

Those in South and North Phyongan Provinces and other areas are taking good care of high-yield seeds suited to the topographical and soil conditions already prepared for sowing.

Signal successes are being also made in the production of compost and bio-fertilizers.

The repair and maintenance of farm machines and implements are making brisk headway on co-op farms across the country to make this year's farming successful.

Meanwhile, a high-pitched drive is now under way at the tractor spare parts plants to provide the farms with a sufficient number of parts. Co-op farms are provided with huge quantities of compost and farm implements by employees of the Cabinet, ministries and national institutions and those in various provinces, cities and counties.
