Anniversary of Buddhist Federation of Korea Marked
Pyongyang, December 26 (KCNA) -- A meeting to mark the 65th anniversary of the Buddhist Federation of Korea (BFK) took place here on Dec. 26.

Present there were office-bearers of the Central Committee and provincial, city and county committees of the BFK and priests of temples from across the country. Monks and believers in Pyongyang also took part.

Most Venerable Sim Sang Jin who is chairman of the C.C., the BFK made a report.

He, reviewing the path covered by the BFK for 65 years, said it enjoyed religious freedom under the deep care and warm solicitude of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il. He also looked back on its successes in the efforts to boost cooperation and exchange between Buddhists in the north and the south and reunify the country true to the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration.

He called on all the Buddhists to make tangible contribution to opening a gate to a thriving nation in 2012.

He underscored the need for them to turn out in Dharma-minded concord in the struggle against the Lee Myung Bak conservative forces, a group of traitors driving the situation to the brink of a war against reunification after totally scuttling the north-south relations.
