KCNA on Korean Peninsula and US Strategy for Alliance for Aggression
Pyongyang, December 24 (KCNA) -- The politico-military situation on the Korean Peninsula that was driven to the brink of a war this year is arousing deep concern of the international community.

The U.S. is entirely to blame for the alarming developments on the peninsula this year as it used the peninsula for realizing its strategy to dominate East Asia.

The U.S. focused its efforts on knocking into shape a triangular military alliance grouping the U.S., Japan, and south Korea to hold hegemony in the Asia-Pacific.

It put the alliance into test by escalating the situation on the peninsula this year.

The U.S. tightened the U.S.-Japan, U.S.-south Korea and south Korea-Japan "strategic partnership" in political, economic and military fields. Their joint actions included study of "defense" and "contingency" and military exercises.

The U.S. orchestrated the "Cheonan" sinking case and the Yonphyong Island conflict and used them as a golden opportunity for stepping up the formation of the alliance.

The U.S., Japan and south Korea demonstrated unprecedented joint actions in reacting to the warship case and island shelling incident. They employed every means and method to add fuel to fire, escalating the conflict.

The U.S. recently blustered that it would "ensure the 'security' of south Korea by providing nuclear umbrella to it" and it would offer all types of ultra-modern military hardware to modernize the armed forces of south Korea.

It is also seeking to turn Japan into a more dependable bridgehead for its forces within the framework of the triangular military alliance.

The number of fighter bombers in the U.S. forces base in Okinawa is on the steady increase while Sasebo and other ports of Japan are being turned into their military bases.

Under the patronage of the U.S., Japan has spent a huge amount of funds for latest type military planes, ground-to-air missiles, all types of warships and tanks.

Feeling precarious about the rapid change in economic and military equilibrium in the new century, the U.S., styling itself an "Asia-Pacific state", has strengthened "military cooperation" with several Asian countries and increased military pressure on China, Russia and other "potential rivals."

Japan and south Korea are acting as shock brigades for realizing the U.S. strategy for aggression, lost to shame.

The alliance is, in actuality, operational after having all terms and appearance as a collective military bloc.

The U.S. is kick-starting the triangular military alliance billed as an "anti-communist crusade" arrangements for whose creation have long been in the making along with NATO. This is a grave action for aggression quite contrary to the global trend for peace.

The international community should accept it as an urgent requirement for stability and peace in Northeast Asia to foil the U.S. moves to round off alliance for aggression.
