The production buildings including the confectionary shop, the flour shop, the yeast shop, etc. were technologically updated and a new twist shop and a combined automation room came into being, putting a large continuous production process on a CNC basis.

The technological updating of the factory as required by the new century helped lay another solid foundation for bringing about a radical turn in the foodstuff processing industry and a leap forward in the foodstuff production.

Present at the ceremony were Premier Choe Yong Rim, Mun Kyong Dok, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and chief secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, Minister of Foodstuff and Daily Necessities Industry Jo Yong Chol, Chairman of the Pyongyang City People's Committee Ryang Man Gil, officials concerned and others.

A message of thanks of the WPK Central Committee to the builders and employees of the factory who performed labor feats in the project to modernize the factory was read out at the ceremony.
