Kim Jong Il Visits New Houses and Pyongyang University of Dance
Pyongyang, November 25 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, gave on-the-spot guidance to newly-built apartment houses and reconstructed Pyongyang University of Dance.

The first leg of his guidance was the new apartment houses built at the foot of time-honored Haebang Hill.

After being briefed on the houses in front of a map of panoramic view, he went round them to learn in detail about their construction.

Saying that the interior of houses is well designed for dwellers' convenience, he expressed great pleasure over the fact that the people were provided with another better houses.

They are flawlessly perfect in aspects of design and construction, he said, highly praising the builders for having successfully finished the construction of the modern houses of the highest level.

He stressed with pride that it is a demonstration of the validity of the WPK's idea of bringing about a radical turn in architecture and the potentiality of the DPRK's independent economy to have successfully built another modern residential quarters of peculiar style suited to the requirement of the new century with domestic building materials and technology.

He set forth important tasks that would serve as guidelines for sprucing up the capital city of Pyongyang more magnificently.

If Pyongyang is to be built into a world-leading city impeccable even in the distant future, it is important to ensure the layout of streets, the construction of roads and the arrangement and style of various buildings in a peculiar and far-sighted way as required by the developing reality and well arrange facilities for education, public health, physical training and cultural and welfare service and other public service establishments on the principle of ensuring the serve-the-people spirit, the national character and modernity on the top level.

The next leg of his guidance was reconstructed Pyongyang University of Dance.

After being briefed on its layout and interior structure, he looked round the room dedicated to its history. He recalled with deep emotion the glorious course covered by the university while seeing the historic materials and data on the immortal guidance of President Kim Il Sung.

After its birth the university has produced a great number of competent artistes over the past 60 odd years, thus making significant contribution to the development of the Juche-oriented art, he said, highly estimating the achievements made by it.

Then he made the rounds of several places of the university including modernly equipped practice rooms and a splendidly-built dance theatre to acquaint himself in detail with the reconstruction and education facilities of the university.

Noting that the university is well furnished with all necessary education facilities as befitting a palace of education in art of dance, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the university has been successfully built on a modern basis.

The university is a valuable asset of the country, he said, advancing the tasks for intellectual and ideological education.

He expressed belief that its teachers and students would live up to the trust and expectation of the WPK by ushering in the fresh heyday of education in art of dance.
