20th Anniversary of Pomminryon Observed
Pyongyang, November 23 (KCNA) -- The Headquarters of Koreans in Japan of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) held a meeting in Tokyo to mark the 20th anniversary of its formation.

Present at the meeting were Im Thae Gwang, chairman of the Headquarters of Koreans in Japan of Pomminryon, So Chung On, director of the Department for International Relations and Reunification Issue of the Central Standing Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, members of the Presidium of the Headquarters of Koreans in Japan of Pomminryon, its officials and those concerned.

A speech made by Im was followed by a report.

A reporter said that the formation of Pomminryon led to the appearance of an umbrella body for great national unity capable of uniting all the compatriots in the north and the south and overseas as one under the banner of reunification and patriotism and provided an opportunity of developing the national reunification movement into a nationwide struggle through the solidarity among the north, south and overseas sides.

He recalled that Pomminryon has waged a dynamic movement for reunification and patriotism since the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration, a landmark of national reunification, and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it.

A stumbling block is lying in the way of reunification due to the south Korean conservative ruling forces, the reporter noted, underscoring the need for Pomminryon to creditably perform its duty and mission to contribute to the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
