Dried Persimmon, Korea's Traditional Processed Fruit
Pyongyang, November 19 (KCNA) -- Persimmon harvest is in full swing in the middle part of Korea, including Anbyon County, Kangwon Province.

Dried persimmon, one of the processed fruits with the longest history in Korea, is tasty and highly nutritive.

When it is dried, white powder comes out with 75-80 percent of glucose and 20-25 percent of fructose. The mixture is digestive and absorbable.

Dried persimmon, which can be long stored in any places free from moisture, contains a large amount of sugar.

It, with vitamin C, B1 and B2, is efficacious for scorbutus, beriberi and other diseases and promotes bodily growth and development.

It has antioxidant, anticancer, antibacterial and antivirus effects and helps lower cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar.

It also contains kalium, sodium, calcium, magnesium and other ingredients preventing aging.

Dried persimmon is also used as materials of sweet rice dish and fruit punch.
