Medical Properties of Kimchi
Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- Kimchi, one of the Korean nation's traditional dishes, has been publicly recognized as health food for its peculiar flavor, nutritive substances and medical properties.

The large amount of polysaccharide and lignin contained in kimchi promotes the function of stomach and intestines to help digestion. It is also efficacious for hypertension, hyperlipemia and other diseases as it makes viscous solution in intestines to lower cholesterol.

Kimchi includes vitamin A and C conducive to preventing aging and cancer and removing pathogenic microorganisms.

Such medicinal materials as fruit of Crataegus pinnatifida can be used in preparation of kimchi.
