Guidelines for National Liberation
Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Seventy-three years has elapsed since President Kim Il Sung published the famous work "The Tasks of Korean Communists".

In the period of the arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, the President paid a primary attention to awakening the members of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and the popular masses to an independent and revolutionary consciousness whenever the situation turned complicated.

He authored the work during breaks in battles and marches in the autumn of Juche 26 (1937) when the main KPRA was engaged in harassment operations behind enemy lines under his command. It was printed in Sogwang, the organ of the KPRA.

After occupying many areas of China, the Japanese imperialists continued to expand the front. At the same time, they became more desperate in crackdown upon the Korean people and "punitive operations" against the KPRA for the "security of the rear".

With a deep insight into the prevailing situation and the requirements of the developing revolution, the President noted in the work that the situation was still developing in favor of the revolution, although the Korean revolution was faced with trials and difficulties.

He also set forth following immediate tasks of the Korean communists:

To begin with, Korean communists must broaden and step up the anti-Japanese armed struggle and lead it to victory, thus splendidly accomplishing the sacred task of regaining our country.

Secondly, Korean communists must organize and conduct more vigorously the anti-Japanese national united front movement and unite closely a wider segment of the anti-Japanese patriotic forces on a nationwide scale, so that the revolutionary forces secure superiority over the counter-revolutionary forces.

Thirdly, the Korean communists should strive to strengthen solidarity with the international revolutionary forces.

Fourthly, Korean communists must take energetic steps to found a revolutionary Marxist-Leninist party in our country.

The work provided a strategic and tactical policy to be pursued by the Korean revolutionaries and served as guidelines for their struggle for national liberation from the Japanese colonial rule.
