Chairman of Human Rights Committee of S. Korea Accused
Pyongyang, November 10 (KCNA) -- Lawmakers from the Democratic Party of south Korea at a meeting on Nov. 5 assailed Hyon Pyong Chol, chairman of the Human Rights Committee, for his dictatorial act of abusing human rights.

They accused Hyon of deliberately making a retrogressive revision of the rules for steering the committee in such a manner that the function of its standing committee might be weakened and his authority be boosted.

This has completely reduced the committee to a waiting maid of the government, they charged, asserting that there would be no ground for the committee to exist any longer if it had lost its independence.

They demanded Hyon step down at once, owning the responsibility for the situation.

Human rights organizations launched a sit-in strike in demand of the ouster of Hyon from the committee on Nov. 4.
