Opera Produced by DPRK-China Friendship
Pyongyang, November 9 (KCNA) -- The opera "Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai" has been put on the stage at the Pyongyang Grand Theatre, drawing a large number of people.

The opera, adapted from a famous folk legend going down in China for more than 1 600 years, tells a tragic love story of Zhu Yingtai, a daughter of an influential family, and Liang Shanbo, a son of an ordinary literary man's family.

The Phibada Opera Troupe successfully created the opera true to the original and high in artistry.

The well-written opera, made up of six chapters and twelve scenes, presents such wonderful features of theatrical arts as majestic and peculiar mixed orchestra, introduction of pangchang (off-stage songs), kaleidoscopic three-dimensional stage art, fantastic dances and fine singing and action of the performers.

Chae Myong Sok, a section chief of the troupe and senior director of the opera, told KCNA that they had found it difficult to create an opera based on a legend of other country different in language, culture and customs but they had devoted their wisdom and energy to completing the opera on a high level.

He also said that they would do their best to perfect the opera to contribute to developing the DPRK-China friendship.
