Animal Medicinal Materials Newly Developed
Pyongyang, November 8 (KCNA) -- Zoologists of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have made success in developing Koryo medicines with some ingredients of animals.

Scientists of the Zoology Research Institute under the State Academy of Sciences have made medicines efficacious for convulsions with useful elements extracted from toad, scorpion, large spider and other animals.

In particular, they have found out some 20 kinds of usefulness in venom of pit viper and proved their utility for raw materials of injections and pills for thyroiditis and surgical treatment.

They have also used bile of pit viper in making Asdofell Injection for liver cirrhosis and dropsy, rheumatism, bronchial asthma and indigestion.

The injection promotes the composition of nucleic acid and protein in human body and enhances the activity of various enzymes to properly adjust functions of all organs, including immunity.

It also promotes regeneration and multiplication of cells, secretion and excretion of bile in liver, liver function and urination and prevents inflammation.

The institute has developed a technology of simultaneously separating major ingredients from snake to mass-produce medicines for thrombus, cancer, hypertension and other diseases.

Koryo medicines manufactured with venom of animals have already been used in hospitals.
