Reunion of Separated Families from North and South Begins
Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- The reunion of separated families and relatives from the north and the south started at Mt. Kumgang Resort on Saturday under an agreement reached between the Red Cross organizations of the north and the south to arrange the reunion on the occasion of the Harvest Moon Day according to the proposal made by the DPRK side on its own initiative.

Those from the north side first had group reunions with separated families and relatives from the south side.

After the start of the reunions, the families and relatives from the north hugged their kith and kin from the south whom they have longed to see.

Those from the north side told their kith and kin from the south about the worthwhile life they have led under the Korean-style socialist system centered on the popular masses in which all the people have formed a big harmonious family under the care of General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

The Red Cross of south Korea hosted a banquet for the separated families and relatives from both sides on the same day.
