Scientific Research Activities Brisk among Students
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- Students of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, in hearty response to the call of the Workers' Party of Korea for acquiring ultra-modern science and technologies, have contributed to updating major economic sectors through activities of scientific research groups.

Students of Kim Il Sung University, dispatched to the Pyongyang Cornstarch Factory associated with undying feats of President Kim Il Sung, General Secretary Kim Jong Il and anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk, have invented new measuring instruments necessary for the production of starch syrup and dextrose and put the analysis process on the CNC basis.

Other students of the same university have applied their research findings to a co-op farm in Pyongyang to raise the weight of piglets by 31 percent.

Students of Kim Chaek University of Technology have helped the Chollima Steel Complex in basing the temperature control system of the drying furnace on the CNC technology, which is necessary for the full operation of UHP electric arc furnace.

Those of Hamhung University of Chemical Engineering have developed a monitoring system of the water electrolysis process newly built in the ammonia workshop of the February 8 Vinalon Complex in order to prevent accident and improve the quality of hydrogen and oxygen.

Students of Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Han Tok Su University of Light Industry and other universities and colleges throughout the country have also made a good job in solving scientific and technological problems to boost the production of industrial establishments.
