"Arirang" Performed to Mark Entry of CPV into Korean Front
Pyongyang, October 23 (KCNA) -- Grand gymnastic and artistic performance "Arirang", winner of Kim Il Sung Prize, was given at the May Day Stadium Saturday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the entry of the Chinese People's Volunteers into the Korean front.

Appreciating the performance were Kim Yong Nam and Choe Yong Rim, members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and other leading officials of the party, army and state, officials of the party, armed forces and power bodies, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army and working people in the city.

Among the spectators were members of the Chinese high-ranking military delegation, the delegation of veteran fighters of the CPV and the Art Troupe of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, the Chinese ambassador to the DPRK and staff members of his embassy and other Chinese guests staying in the DPRK.

An Tong Chun, minister of Culture, said in his speech that the DPRK-China friendship is a treasure common to the armies and peoples of the two countries and unbreakable friendship with eternal vitality as it was forged in blood in the struggle against foreign aggressors and stood storms and ordeals of history.

As the performance began, there appeared on the background letters "Deepest Respect to the Great Leader, Founder of Our Party" and "Highest Glory to the Great Leader Comrade Kim Jong Il" turning the ground of the stadium into a veritable sea of flowers and dancers.

The performance represented as grand epical picture the heroic spirit of our army and people bravely struggling for building a great prosperous and powerful socialist nation and national reunification glorifying the dignity and honor of the country and the nation with the might of harmonious whole of the leader, party and masses under the banner of Songun.

The scene "Arirang for Friendship" reflecting the steadfast will of the armies and peoples of the two countries to consolidate and develop the traditional DPRK-China friendship generation after generation added luster to the performance.

Letters reading "Deepest Respect to the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung and Chinese Leaders of Elder Generation," "Deep-rooted DPRK-China Friendship", etc. appeared on the background in succession while performers in the national costumes of the two countries presented folk dances of China and friendship dances.

The performance was acclaimed by the spectators.
