Newly Built State Theatre Unveiled
Pyongyang, October 18 (KCNA) -- The State Theatre was newly built.

More than 620-seater theatre has all facilities necessary for art creation, performing activities and audience ranging from stage, latest sound and lighting facilities, rehearsal rooms and make-up rooms to an annex and welfare and service amenities.

A ceremony for the completion of the theatre took place on Oct. 17.

Present at the ceremony were Kim Ki Nam, Yang Hyong Sop and Ri Thae Nam, An Tong Chun, minister of Culture, soldier-builders, officials of ministries and national institutions, creators and artistes in the fields of culture and arts and working people in Pyongyang.

Choe Yong Rim, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, made a speech on the occasion.

He recalled that General Secretary Kim Jong Il wisely led the construction of the theatre, clearly indicating the orientation and ways for the building of the theatre and solving all problems arising in it from its designing to manpower for undertaking the project.

He underlined the need for the officials, creators and artistes of the theatre to bring about a great surge in the art creation and performing activities in the same spirit as was displayed when reproducing light comedy "Echo of Mountain".

The participants went round the theatre.
