Reelection of Kim Jong Il as General Secretary of WPK Celebrated
Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- Meetings, book and photo exhibitions, seminars and film shows took place in Britain, Italy, Mongolia, Cambodia, Pakistan and Bulgaria between Oct. 4 and 9 on the occasions of the reelection of General Secretary Kim Jong Il as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 65th birthday of the WPK.

Displayed in the venues of the functions were works of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, photos showing their undying party building leadership exploits and books and photos introducing the 65 year-long history of victory and glory of the WPK.

Speeches were made there.

Harpal Brar, chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist), and other speakers said that they would conduct brisk solidarity activities in support of the just cause of the Korean people to frustrate the anti-DPRK moves of the hostile forces and achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.

Roberto Gabriele, general secretary of the Movement for Peace and Socialism of Italy, said that the Korean people are sure to defend the peace and security on the Korean Peninsula and the socialist cause and always achieve victory in the struggle to realize the reunification of the country, thanks to Kim Jong Il.

The secretary general of the Central Committee of the People's Party of Cambodia said that the Conference of the WPK reelected Kim Jong Il as its general secretary reflecting the unanimous wish of all the party members, servicepersons and people of the DPRK.

The secretary general of the Pakistan Trade Union Federation said that the WPK led by General Secretary Kim Jong Il would as ever demonstrate the ever-victorious might.

The participants of the film shows appreciated Korean films showing the Songun leadership exploits of Kim Jong Il.

Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the functions held in Pakistan and Bulgaria.
