The 65 year-long history of the WPK is a history of victory and glory in which it has led the people to work epochal changes, the statement said, and went on:

The Workers' Party of Korea has built in Korea a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence by guiding the people to victory under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, founder of the WPK, and Kim Jong Il and made immortal contributions to the cause of global independence.

The Conference of the WPK, held on Sept. 28, reelected Kim Jong Il its general secretary and demonstrated its unshakable will to accomplish the socialist cause under his leadership.

The Arab Socialist Party of Egypt warmly congratulates the WPK Conference on its success and wishes the WPK headed by Kim Jong Il greater success in its struggle.
