Settlement of Issue of Remains of Koreans Demanded
Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- A meeting for hearing testimonies for finding a solution to the issue of remains of Koreans by the concerted efforts of their bereaved families in the DPRK and south Korea was held in Tokyo on Oct. 7.

Present there were co-representatives of the National Liaison Committee for "the settlement of the issue of remains of Koreans by the concerted efforts of their bereaved families in the DPRK and south Korea", the Koreans concerned of the Fact-Finding Group for the Probe into the Truth about the Forcible Drafting of Koreans in Tokyo, Dietmen, citizens, members of social organizations and bereaved families of Korean victims of the forcible drafting in Japan.

At the meeting the reporter and speaker accused the Japanese government of still refusing to properly solve the issue of the remains of Koreans who were killed after forcibly drafted to Japan.

They urged the Japanese government to duly admit Japan's past crimes related to the forcible drafting, own responsibility for them and make apology and reparation for them.

They demanded Japan thoroughly investigate the above-said issue and send all the remains to their families.

Dietmen from the Democratic Party and Social-Democratic Party of Japan in their speeches declared that they would strengthen the contact with civic and social organizations across Japan to urge the Japanese government to actively come out in the work for the return of the remains to their families.

Members of the bereaved families also took the floor.

Saying that they could hardly repress their resentment at the Japanese government's refusal to make public the list of remains of those killed, they held that Japan should settle the issue from the stand of redressing its past crimes by itself.

A resolution was adopted at the meeting.
