Birthday of WPK Marked
Pyongyang, October 13 (KCNA) -- A seminar on exploits, a meeting and a photo exhibition took place in Mongolia, a lecture in Romania, a lecture and a film show in Pakistan and an opening ceremony of a week of Korean photo exhibition in Nigeria between Sept. 29 and Oct. 5 to congratulate General Secretary Kim Jong Il on his reelection as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and celebrate the 65th birthday of the WPK.

On display in the venues of the photo exhibitions were photos showing the achievements made by the Korean people.

The executive chairperson of the Mongolian Mt. Paektu Association for Independent Development noted in his speech that Kim Jong Il's reelection as general secretary of the WPK was a historic event of great significance in the struggle for strengthening and developing the party and bringing earlier a final victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche.

The secretary general of the Romania-Korea Friendship Association noted in the lecture that the WPK founded by President Kim Il Sung has grown stronger to be an invincible revolutionary party, meeting all challenges of history under the Songun leadership of Kim Jong Il.

The information secretary of the Punjab Provincial Committee who doubles as member of the Central Executive Committee of the Pakistan People's Party in the lecture praised Kim Il Sung as the greatest and successful statesman as he explored a new way of building a revolutionary party in the era of independence and set a model of a ruling party under socialism.

The participants of the film show watched the Korean film "Fireworks for a Thriving Nation".

Meanwhile, a seminar and a lecture took place in Britain and Ethiopia on Oct. 4 and 5 on the occasion of the 65th birthday of the WPK.

Messages of greetings to Kim Jong Il were adopted at the events in Mongolia, Romania and Britain.
