Proposal for Founding DFRK Supported
Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- Antti Sika Aho, chairman of the Finland-Korea Society, released a statement on September 30 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo.

The statement said that in October 1980 President Kim Il Sung advanced the proposal calling for reunifying the country by founding a federal republic through the establishment of a unified national government on condition that the north and the south recognize and tolerate each other's ideas and social systems, a government in which the two sides are represented on an equal footing and under which they exercise regional autonomy with equal rights and duties.

The proposal for reunification advanced by the President is of historic significance and still serves as the most just and realistic proposal for achieving the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea, the statement said, and noted:

The feats performed by the President in the cause of the independent and peaceful reunification of Korea are more brilliantly shining thanks to General Secretary Kim Jong Il.

In order to realize the proposal for founding the DFRK it is necessary, first of all, to put a definite end to the U.S. political and military interference in the Korean Peninsula and force the Lee Myung Bak regime to roll back its anachronistic policy for confrontation with the DPRK at once.

We are firmly convinced that the Korean people will certainly achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country according to the proposal for founding the DFRK advanced by the President.

We will as ever positively support and encourage the Korean people in their struggle for independent and peaceful reunification and conduct more widespread activities for solidarity with them.
