Disabled People under Good Care
Pyongyang, September 17 (KCNA) -- Various activities have been conducted to take care of the disabled in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The DPRK law on the Protection of the Person with Disability, adopted in June Juche 92 (2003), stipulates that the State shall respect their personality and guarantee their socio-political rights, freedom and interests equal to the healthy persons.

The Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled carries on assistance, protection and information activities in line with the government's popular policies to encourage the disabled to play their role for the collective and society.

The federation has directed much effort to updating sanatoriums and supplying medical institutions with up-to-date appliances and technologies for recuperation and treatment.

It has built a prosthetic appliances factory to provide disabled people with necessary instruments including walking staffs and chairs, and consolidated material and technical foundations of their education and amusements.

It has also provided them with conditions for taking part in social labor.

Meanwhile, the federation has a wide-ranging exchange and cooperation with international organizations and relevant organizations of other countries.
