Typhoon No. 7 Claims Casualties
Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Most areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have suffered a serious damage due to Typhoon No. 7 in early September.

According to information available in a relevant organ, scores of people lost their lives in the country, struck by torrential rains, rainstorms and landslides.

More than 3,300 dwelling blocks were collapsed so that some 8,380 families lost their properties and live in makeshift shelters.

An estimated 30,550 hectares of standing crops were flooded, buried or washed away.

Some 230 public and production-related buildings and more than 170 sections of roads were damaged.

Meanwhile, 6,200 square meters of roadbed were totally wrecked in 250-meter-long sections of railroad and 65,980 meters of railroad ruined by landslides.

Power-transmission lines were broken and reservoirs and waterworks destroyed in some areas.

Electricity and water supply and traffic have been cut off in affected areas and their residents lack food and medicines.
