Attending it were Jon Kuk Man, vice-chairman of the Education Commission of the DPRK, Jon Yong Jin, vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, university officials including presidents of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Hyong Jik University of Education, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering, Pyongyang University of Construction and Building-Materials Industry, University of Science, Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce, Pyongyang University of Foreign Studies, Pyongyang University of Computer Science, Pyongyang Kim Won Gyun Conservatory and Pyongyang University of Railways and officials concerned.

Also present were a delegation of the Ministry of Education of China headed by Xu Yongji, vice-director of the Agency for International Cooperation and Exchanges, a delegation of Chinese universities headed by Zhantao, president of Jilin University, which consists of officials of Tsinghua University, Zhongshan University, Harbin Engineering University, Liaoning University, Fuduan University, Tianjin University, Nankai University, Dalian Science and Engineering University, Dongbei University, Dongbei Normal University and Yangzhou University, a delegation of conservatories of China, a delegation of the Local Association for International Friendly Contact of China which groups officials of associations for international friendly contact in different provinces and cities of China, and Charge d'Affaires ad Interim Hao Xiaofei and staff members of the Chinese embassy here.

Congratulatory addresses were made at the forum by Jon Yong Jin and Xu Yongji.

Kim Il Gwang, vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, made a report there, which was followed by speeches of a vice-president of Kim Chaek University of Technology and the presidents of University of Science and Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering.

The speakers hoped that the Chinese people would achieve greater success in building harmonious socialist society based on the scientific outlook on development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China with Hu Jintao as its general secretary.

They said that they would develop exchanges and cooperative relations with many universities of China and thus contribute to consolidating the DPRK-China relations of friendship.

Speeches were also made by a vice-president of Tsinghua University, the president of Liaoning University, a vice-president of Harbin Engineering University, the managing vice-president of Fuduan University and the president of Jilin University.

They said that during their visit they were deeply moved to see the Korean people accelerating the drive to build a thriving nation through self-reliance and fortitude, closely rallied around General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
