He bagged a gold medal at the adults' individual 10m running target event in the 50th world shooting championships held in Munich, Germany from July 29 to August 11.

He was considered to be an up-and-coming marksman when he grabbed two gold medals at the youth's individual and team 50m running target event in the 49th world shooting championships held in Croatia in Juche 95 (2006).

His coach Ri Sung Il, 52, told KCNA that his forte was taking fast and good aim.

A year after he began to learn shooting, he was already matchable to adult players.
