On display in its venue were photos showing the signal successes gained by the servicepersons and people of the DPRK in building a great prosperous and powerful nation.

Attending it were Ramon Ripol, vice-minister of Trade and Foreign Investment, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Communist Party and the Institute for Asia and Oceania of Cuba and popular masses.

Present on invitation were Ambassador Kwon Sung Chol and staff members of the DPRK embassy and diplomatic envoys of different countries in Cuba.

Speakers at the meeting warmly congratulated the Korean people on the 62nd anniversary of the DPRK and wished for successful holding of the conference of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Saying that the meeting between President Kim Il Sung and Fidel Castro Ruz in 1986 was an event of weighty significance in the development of the relations between the two countries, they expressed belief that the bilateral relations of friendship would further develop under the leadership of Kim Jong Il and Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz.

Over the past 50 years after the establishment of diplomatic relations Cuba and the DPRK have developed the sincere relationship of friendship and cooperation, they said, recalling that the two countries have supported and solidarized with each other in the international arena. And they stressed that the Cuban people hope the fraternal Korean people would certainly realize the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
