Phyongchon College of Technology
Pyongyang, September 14 (KCNA) -- In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, large factories and enterprises and major industrial zones have their own study-while-working networks.

Phyongchon College of Technology, situated in Pyongyang, is one of them.

The college was founded in September Juche 59 (1970) after President Kim Il Sung established a new education system for workers.

Over the last four decades, it has trained thousands of technicians of electronic automation and mechanical engineering.

Some of them are winners of the title of Labor Hero and factory managers and chief engineers.

Taking the Pyongyang Automation Instrument Factory as an example, 55 percent of the workshop heads and above and 65 percent of the technicians are graduates of the college.

The college has also developed a device for measuring the magnetic flux density, a great output supersonic wave generator and many other things needed to update industrial establishments.

Its teachers have steadily improved the contents and methods of education to give the students practical knowledge so that they can contribute to production and technological advance.

They have also published a lot of textbooks, references and scientific and technological books.

The study-while-working higher education system, which has been consolidated under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, is fully displaying its advantages in the effort of building a great, prosperous and powerful nation.
