Stamps Issued for Kim Il Sung's 100th Birthday
Pyongyang, September 13 (KCNA) -- The State Stamp Bureau has begun issuing a series of postage stamps showing the revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung to mark his 100th birth anniversary. The first part of the series (two souvenir sheets and five sheetlets) has already been brought out.

The stamps, titled "The Sun of the Nation," have such inscriptions as "100th birth anniversary of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" and "Juche 1 (1912)-Juche 101 (2012)."

The sheets carry pictures of the President successfully guiding the arduous march during the anti-Japanese armed struggle and making the first speech in the liberated homeland after his triumphant return.

Printed in the sheetlets are photos of the President getting patriotic education from his parents, leaving home and crossing the River Amnok at the age of 13 with an ambition to win back the independence of the country, leading youth and students in the struggle against the Jilin-Hoeryong railway project launched by the Japanese imperialists in days of his early revolutionary activities and delivering the historic speech "The Path of the Korean Revolution" at a meeting of senior cadres of the Young Communist League and the Anti-imperialist Youth League in Kalun, China.

The stamps also contain pictures showing such revolutionary feats of the President as the organization of an anti-Japanese guerilla army, founding of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland for the unity of all patriotic forces and the Pochonbo battle he brought to victory in the period of the anti-Japanese war.

Seen in a sheetlet is a picture of anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk safeguarding the President at the risk of her life and pictures showing immortal exploits of the heroine, who brought up Kim Jong Il to carry forward the revolutionary cause of Juche through generations.

The series of stamps will continue to be published until April 2012.
