E-map on Climate for Agriculture Completed
Pyongyang, September 12 (KCNA) -- E-detailed map on climate for agriculture in Korea was produced.

This map produced on the basis of the geographical information system indicates 21 basic indexes and 147 specific indexes necessary for agricultural production ranging from hot and warm weather indexes to precipitation, wind, season and climatic indexes likely to cause natural disasters.

Most of the indexes given on the map have high accuracy.

The scientists and researchers of the Central Meteorological Institute of the Hydro-Meteorological Service, the faculty of global environment of Kim Il Sung University and the Geographical Institute under the State Academy of Sciences scientifically defined average climate values through the introduction of new interpolation of Korean style on the basis of comprehensive analysis and estimation of the climatic features of the country for three decades from the 1970s to 2000 and succeeded in completing the above-said map dealing with the whole country, provinces, cities and counties as units.

The map made in the forms of a distribution map and diagrams making it possible to comprehensively and substantially get information about climate in respective areas provides another guarantee for rapidly developing the nation's agriculture.
